What kind of programs do we consider?

Before submitting a letter of interest or application, please see the information below to determine whether your program may be eligible for support.

We consider select programs that provide the following for children, youth, and families:

  • Education, Social, and emotional Development for Children
  • Crisis Intervention and mental health services
  • Literacy advancement
  • The Arts
  • Technology Initiatives
  • We also provide limited support to organizations that advocate on behalf of children at the local, state, and federal levels

We do not fund the following:

  • Individual projects
  • Endowments
  • Private-school or religious projects
  • Organizations without IRS code section 501(c)(3) exemption
  • Scholarships

Letter of Interest Form Instructions

To make initial contact with Building Brighter Days Foundation, and to inquire if submitting a full application is appropriate, please follow the instructions below.

Please submit a Letter of Interest if:

  • You have never received a grant from Building Brighter Days Foundation, or if it has been more than 3 years since your last grant
  • There has been major change in your organization since your last grant award (new executive leadership, changed mission/vision, reorganization, etc.)
  • You plan to apply for a grant for a different project/program or a significantly different amount of funding than previous grant awards

Review and Response

You’ll receive an email confirmation when the Foundation office receives your Letter of Interest. After we review your Letter of Interest, we’ll notify you by email as to whether we’re interested in reviewing a full application or not.

Grant Application Process and Instructions

Once you’ve submitted a Letter of Interest and received confirmation from the Foundation office that we would like to review a full application, please review the process below to complete your application.

Preliminary Review

Applications are accepted year-round. They’re first reviewed to make sure they qualify for funding and all required information has been included.

Final Review and Approval

The Foundation reviews applications three times per year. Please refer to the application deadlines below for planning purposes.

The Board carefully considers all applications and will notify you once a funding decision has been made as to whether the request has been declined or approved. If approved, funding will accompany the notification.

Grant Application Deadlines

  • Applications received December 15-April 30 will be reviewed by May 15
  • Applications received May 1-August 31 will be reviewed by September 15
  • Applications received September 1-December 1 will be reviewed by December 15

Next Steps

Recipients of grants from the Building Brighter Days Foundation must provide a letter of acknowledgement of the gift within 15 days of receipt of the check. Organizations receiving grants need to complete a Report Form one year after receiving funding.

Required Reporting

Grantees are required to report their outcomes from the project or program within one year of the grant award. Please complete the Report Form based on the plans and outcomes that you stated in your Grant Application.
